Safety Guidelines

Lingl Safety Guidelines for External Companies and Staff of External Companies

In order to avoid mutual endangerment between the staff of your company as contractor/ contract partner for construction, assembly, maintenance and auxiliary services and the staff of our company as ordering customer and to ensure the safety of all persons involved the following points have to be considered:

  1. Instruct your staff members that access is restricted to the areas where the agreed services have to be carried out.
  2. Have your staff members informed by the ordering customer or the assigned coordinator for construction and assembly work about possible risks at the workplaces. Instructions given to your staff members in this connection for avoiding any endangerment have to be adhered to.
  3. During the ongoing work activities in the same places and at the same time, causing mutual endangerment, have to be avoided
  4. Target and schedule agreements made for certain operations have to be strictly adhered to.
  5. Welding and cutting work outside fixed welding places need a special permit in writing.
  6. The operating instructions and available assembling instructions of your company have to be adhered to.
  7. The regulations for the internal traffic as well as the traffic signs are to be observed.
  8. Safety signs (mandatory signs, prohibition signs and warning signs) have to be observed.
  9. In general working appliances belonging to us resp. to our customer must not be used, unless agreed upon explicitly. If the use of such appliances has been allowed, the staff members have to be instructed by the purchaser in the safe handling of these appliances before starting work.
  10. In general lifting machines or industrial trucks, especially fork lifts and telescope stackers (Manitou) must only be used by staff members holding an appropriate driving licence or having received a driving order in writing.
  11. The personal safety equipment (PSE) prescribed for the operations has to be used. This especially applies for work at high places. Fall protection equipment, safety harnesses or height safeguarding equipment have to be used.
  12. Working and traffic areas have to be closed off if equipment parts, tools or other parts could fall down during work at high places.
  13. It is not allowed to consume narcotic substances or alcoholic drinks.
  14. The regulations concerning smoking have to be respected.
  15. Substances hazardous to water (liquids) which may be used by you must neither reach the sewage system nor the ground.
  16. Your staff members have to inform themselves about the position of the firing extinguishers, fire protection installations, first aid units, escape and rescue ways.
  17. The access to firing extinguishers and fire protection installations has always to be kept free.
  18. The blockage of entrances and exits, stairs, ways, passages etc. without permit of the ordering customer is prohibited.
  19. At least 10 % of your staff members working on site must be able to prove a valid first aid training.
  20. If there should be doubts or queries with regard to the safe execution of the work, your staff members may contact the Lingl contact person at any time.
  21. In case there are several staff members of your company working on site, one of them has to be nominated as site coordinator.

The training of your staff members according to the SSC document 16 is urgently recommended. For some building sites the a.m. training is even compulsory. This matter has to be clarified with the relevant purchasing department in advance.

The a.m. safety guidelines do not at all exempt the contractor from the legal obligations and responsibilities for the correct execution of the work. The contractor or contract partner is fully responsible for the compliance with applicable laws (labour, environment, social assurance) as well as the European guidelines. The contractor or contract partner is responsible for the adequate training of the staff for being able to execute the work without risk. The contractor or contract partner is obliged to supervise his staff.

The ordering customer is entitled to interrupt the work if the safety guidelines have not been fulfilled. Any costs arising in this respect will have to be paid by the contractor or contract partner.
